Corby finish an Outstanding Arena League Campaign With Fifth Place in East Midlands Premier Division.
Corby Swimming Club brought their National Arena Swimming League campaign to a memorable closat the East Midlands Premier Division Final, held at the University of East Anglia Pool in Norwich. Having excelled across the first two rounds — defeating significantly larger and more established clubs — Corby earned a deserved place among the region’s elite for the final showdown of the 2025 season.
Round 3 marked the culmination of the East Midlands League phase, with the league’s strongest sides coming together ahead of the national finals scheduled for spring 2026. Corby faced the toughest field the division could offer, lining up against City of Peterborough, City of Cambridge A, City of Norwich A, Norwich Swan A, West Norfolk SC and Nottingham Leander.
Undeterred by the quality of opposition, Corby’s swimmers approached the gala with trademark grit and determination. Relay performances were once again a major strength, while a number of individual swims stood out in fiercely contested races. Particularly notable were Laurenzio Ciolan, who delivered two superb performances in the 15/U 100m Backstroke and 15/U100m Freestyle, and Addyson Hicks, whose swim in the 10/11 years 50m Breaststroke was another highlight of the evening.
As expected, the “big four” — City of Peterborough, City of Cambridge A, City of Norwich A and Norwich Swan A — battled it out for the top four positions. Behind them, Corby produced an excellent second half to the gala, steadily pulling clear of West Norfolk and Nottingham Leander to finish in a hugely respectable fifth place on the night.
That effort was reflected in the final league standings, with Corby also finishing the East Midlands League in 5th place overall out of 20 teams, ending the campaign 54 points clear of West Norfolk in sixth. The achievement represents a strong statement of the club’s depth, consistency and competitive progress.
The team deserves huge congratulations for an excellent three-round campaign, demonstrating that Corby Swimming Club continues to move forward with confidence and ambition. Thanks must also go to the Corby coaching team, officials and team managers for their commitment throughout the league, and to the many parents who travelled far and wide to support the squad every step of the way.
A fantastic way to round off the 2025 team gala programme — and plenty to look forward to as preparations begin for the Winter League and Diddy League fixtures in 2026.
