Corby Swimming Club continued their excellent return to the National Arena Swimming League with another confident team performance in Round 2, held at Cambridge’s Parkside Pool on 8 November 2025. With three East Midlands galas running simultaneously across the region, Corby travelled with a refreshed squad — welcoming several new athletes into the team, as well as the return of a number of senior swimmers who made the trip back from university to represent the club.
The atmosphere inside the Cambridge venue was lively throughout the evening, and the standard of competition proved exceptionally high. Cambridge A, racing in their home pool, showed remarkable strength across all age groups. As a large city club boasting nearly five times Corby’s registered membership, their depth was clear to see. Even so, Corby rose to the challenge and managed to take valuable points from the hosts in several key races, demonstrating growing maturity, composure and race awareness.
Across the evening, Corby produced a superb team-wide effort. A number of excellent first-place finishes helped keep the pressure firmly on the other teams, and swimmers in every squad stepped up with determined performances in close contests. Among the many highlights of the evening was a superb display from the club’s senior ranks, where the Open Male 4×50m Medley Relay team broke their own Northamptonshire County Record, lowering the mark to a rapid 1:43.21 thanks to outstanding legs from Archie Evans, Caleb O’Brien, Louis Mitchell and Ethan Soppett-Moss.
Their collective effort, combined with strong points scoring across the board, earned Corby an excellent second place overall with 266 points, further strengthening their position near the top of the league heading into Round 3.
Well done again to all of the Corby Swimmers, round 3 takes place at the University of East Anglia pool in Norwich on the 6th of December – GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!
